Welcome to Alfheim! Our goal is to raise healthy Italian Greyhounds, Wire Haired Ibizan Hounds, and Basenjis that not only stand out in the conformation ring with soundness and exceptional breed type, but also have the temperament and drive required to excel at performance events. At Alfheim, our hounds lure course, race, do obedience, rally, therapy work, and anything else that strikes their fancy. They also spend a lot of time lounging in the clean Western Washington air, hogging our bed and barking at the Norwegian fjord Horses and sheep that share their farm.
The physical health of our dogs is our top priority. We have fed raw for more than 5 years and its benefits are evident in their shiny coats, outstanding dental health, and overall vibrancy. All of our dogs are health tested for breed specific health problems including: hip dysplasia, Legg Perthes (IGs only), luxating patellas (IGs & basenjis), deafness (IBs and some IGs), thyroid, Fanconi (basenjis) and have their eyes CERFed yearly. All health testing is registered with OFA and CERF and is available for public viewing on their websites.
We are proud members of the Italian Greyhound Club of America, the Basenji Club of America, The Ibizan Hound Club of the United States, Twin Peaks Ibizan Hound Club, and the Willamette Valley Basenji Club.
